As statistics for depression and suicide are reaching epidemic proportions worldwide and approximately 1 in 5 people are currently being diagnosed with a ‘mental illness’, it has become necessary to look beyond the medical model of the mental health system for answers.

 This site brings together aspects of the Recovery Movement, a hopeful alternative for mental health. This more humane approach to emotional crisis and distress is being successfully implemented in many countries today.

With so many people suffering with what has been labeled ‘mental illness’, as well as carrying the stigma and burden that these labels of diagnosis suggest, it is time to rethink our perceptions and treatments used in the current mental health system.
